Business plan templates are the first step in the conceptualization of a formal business plan.

Free Business plan templates serve as a guide in the comprehension and understanding of the due diligence required in the completion of a final business plan indicative solely for your business. Business plan templates are worksheets based on the concept of what your final business plan must include. A business plan template helps formulate content by asking questions relative to requirements used in a formal business plan.

A business plan template must include the following guidelines:

1.    Establishing the basic business concept of your enterprise
2.    Analyzing the intended market
3.    Developing action plans including contingency planning
4.    Reviewing financial requirements
5.    Refining the planning model
6.    Final development of the business plan

During the development of your business plan, you must clearly define the type of market you are pursuing and the desired goals for your business enterprise. Once you have a well-defined business plan containing specific attainable goals, you can establish the methodologies to proceed in your business venture.

Most business plans are developed either to gain financing for start-up or expand their existing business or simply because they have been told to do so. Regardless of the rationale behind wanting or needing to write a business plan, you must realize that the development of a business plan must have deliberate due diligence in your intended market and set specific attainable goals.

For every goal or assertion stated in your business plan, you must be able to justify each goal with either a detailed quantifiable or quantifiable risk assessment. A business plan spells out a company's action plan for a specific period. It should clearly explain the what, why, when, who and how of the company or organization so that any reasonable party can clearly, concisely, and efficiently understand your business concept.
