Your Guide to Business Plan Samples

This article gives a description of a business plan. It also provides business plan samples. A business plan is a report about a company. Companies in the start-up phase usually need to find sources of funding. A business plan is the accepted way to provide prospective investors, or lenders critical information about the company. Most lenders or investors will not meet with company owners until they have had the opportunity to review a business plan.

The business plan includes the following elements.

- Identity, location and contact information for company principals.
- Description of the business
- Description of the industry and market the company plans to operate in.
- History of the company
- Products the company either plans, or actually does, produce or market
- Marketing plan for the company’s products or services
- Financial projections for either the first or the next three years
- Company management team identification and background
- Funding; the amount needed and the amount already acquired

Even a short or brief form business plan will typically be at least three pages in length. For larger projects or companies, the document can be much larger.

Here are some business plan samples for the various sections of the business plan.
